Lets Hear It For The Boy!

Boden started Preschool!
To be honest I have been so focused on B starting K I hadn't thought too much about little man starting school too.
The night before I kinda went " Oh my goodness BODEN is starting preschool!" ha

He is going to the same school B did and with his best buddy, Billy so its a pretty smooth transition.
The first day he did great.
Especially for a boy who until VERY recently cried if I left the room without him.
He had fun and told me about what they did ( a little) and ate none of his lunch ha.

He's back today so we will see how this new routine shapes up.

Glamping!

A few weeks ago B and I were talking about Summer coming to an end and B suggested having a party! More specifically a "school party" ( can you tell she is excited??) Because I wasn't sure how a "school party" would go over I suggested a Glamping ( Glamour camping) party.

She was on board so we started planning.
Last night we had some of our favorite ladies over for manicures, pillow case decorating ( little ladies), wine glass decorating ( big ladies), yummy food, and campfire with s'mores.

It was a fun way to end our summer and connect with friends before the craziness of school starts.

Matt - as usual- was a big help in helping getting the yard cleaned up, manning the fire, and rounding up Boden and Brooklyn.

Kindergarden.

Its almost here.
I think I have been dreading this day since... the day she was born.
Its not only a change for our family ( we now enter the land of having kids in school) but now 5 days a week for 8 hours a day I hand her over to someone else to teach.
She is no longer just ours.

Will they be kind and patient with her?
Will she make friends?
Will she like school?

Did I prepare her enough?
Show her how to open all her lunch stuff?
To be kind?
Give her the confidence to do things for herself when Im not there?

I know she is ready and I am really happy where she will be going to school ... but still.
She will have fun, make friends, and learn so much. Im happy for that but on the flip side I wince when I think of all the hard things she will learn.
Being left out. Someone teasing her.

For the last, almost 5 years I have been her go -to person.
The person she asks for snacks from 47 times a day, help with the bathroom, asks to look at clouds with.
I will miss her telling me about her princesses and the crazy names she makes up or watch her cuddle chickens through the window.
Oh man this growing up this is hard.
This marks just another "first" she and I will face together.

Why Im Sad.

The news of the death of Robin Williams has hit me hard.
Its weird ( and at first I felt totally dumb - its not like I knew him) but I am sad.
I don't follow Hollywood gossip, Im not one who "cares" about what celebrities are doing...

I think I am sad for his family and the answers they will never have.
Im sad for a man who made everyone happy but couldn't get there himself.
Im sad because this world lost another gentle person to a world so big.

So in the end I guess its not dumb. Its being human and empathizing with something so ... tragic.

We paused our "no TV in August" on this dreary, rainy afternoon to watch " Aladdin"
As I heard the kids giggle and laugh out loud at the very same parts my brother and I once did I smiled to myself.
Im still sad but I also remembered one of the last movies my brother and I watched together was "Jumanji" on TV. We caught it and I complained I never understood this movie. Cody did a horrible job trying to explain it - in yet we kept watching. We agreed it was much like a car crash - can't look away ha.

I hope they both are at peace tonight laughing.
And Maybe Mr. Williams is giving Cody a little more insight to what that movie was about ha.

Boden's Star Wars Room

When Boden was born I *kinda*  finished his room.
Then 3 months later I found out we were expecting Brooklyn so I didn't put much more effort into his room since I needed to convert it to a Boy/ Girl room.
It ended up that Brooklyn slept in our closet for oh ... 14 months ....
so we never needed that boy/girl room.
He loves Star Wars like his Daddy so it seemed the perfect boy room that could easily transition him for a few years into boyhood.

( Why his bed is in shambles while I was trying to take pictures... Brooklyn...)

This orange shelf was in Matt's room growing up. It seems to follow us everywhere and I kinda love it now. Im happy it can be in our sons room.

I might get some more stars for the other side of the "Star Wars" sign.. we'll see.

More Summer Adventures.

So far disconnecting is going pretty well.
The kids don't really ask at all to watch TV at this point.
Its probably harder for me haha.
Boden went to bed crying to keep playing outside so I think we are on the right track. :)

Here are a few pictures from our adventures the past few weeks... we are heading up to camp again this weekend one more time. Everyone is excited.
Matt took the big kids to see " Walking With Dinosaurs" today. They loved it and spent the afternoon playing different dines. I had to step in when B tried to be the bigger dino and pretended to eat Boden.

The Fair - we have gone every year since the Summer Matt and I started dating. Its his favorite and I love how excited he gets. :) B just wanted to go and was grumpy.

The guy was nice and let Bo ride ( Bo was super excited) he JUST made the height cut off.

They LOVED the band ha.

Typical.

These two are bonding this summer. Maye is getting old enough to be fun in Bodens eyes. :)

I took the kids berry picking... after 10 minutes Boden looked at me and said " Im hot. Go home watch Cars and get cuppy?"

I have no clue where B learned this.

My big girl. She talks about Kindergarden everyday. So excited.

We hiked to some local waterfalls. The boys matched.

B explaining to Bo that he can't go in their cause he will drown and die. Um ... thanks B.

My tribe.

Rock climbing.

Looking for bats???

Oh and we matched too. Haha.

Its been a good Summer. Im sad to realize that school starts in 3 and 4 weeks. :(
